ANTONI TÀPIES

Antoni Tápies was born in Barcelona. He began to draw and paint
when he had to spend a long time in bed because of an illness when he was 18.

He learned how to draw and paint on her own, without the help of a teacher.

In his paintings he uses materials which are not commonly used in the traditional painting such as sand, mud, straw... he gives a great importance to the material. They are abstract works, they don´t represent the reality.
